For 25 years, I have lived and breathed the tourism industry from every possible angle. I did not just study travel. I guided it through Europe’s ancient cities, Southeast Asia’s vibrant markets, and Australia’s diverse landscapes. I did not just sell tours. I built the operations that made them unforgettable.
My journey into tourism started in 2000, yet my commercial foundation was established earlier while managing national sales for a surf clothing company. During that period, I grew revenue from one million to fifteen million dollars in just three years. That experience taught me the fundamentals of relationship management and strategic growth.
A decade spent as a top-performing Tour Director with Contiki provided an unparalleled foundation in the mechanics of global travel. This frontline expertise evolved into product and operations roles within the parent company, The Travel Corporation (TTC). Representing brands such as Contiki and AAT Kings, I specialised in complex logistical frameworks, including the 'People to People' student programmes. I learned firsthand about creating experiences that travellers treasure while maintaining the deep operational respect required for destinations.
This operational foundation became a significant competitive advantage as I moved into business development and strategic partnership roles with the Intrepid Group. Representing a diverse portfolio of brands including Intrepid Travel, Peregrine Adventures, and Adventure Tours Australia, it was instrumental in developing extensive retail relationship management and partnership experience. I translated these frontline insights into successful commercial strategies that resonated across the ANZ trade.
My journey then led me to manage Intrepid’s Urban Adventures in Bangkok, overseeing operations during challenging global times. Upon returning to Australia, I applied this perspective to the Council of Australian Tour Operators (CATO) as Head of Partnerships. During my tenure, I drove record membership growth and delivered the largest events in the organisation’s history, while expanding the strategic network between wholesalers, tourist boards, and associate members.
Today, Altura Travel Group is the synthesis of this entire journey. We are far more than a representation company.
